Update, w/b 27th July 2020
Library staff are now available to issue and return books for you at the Beatson, GRH, GRI and VIC libraries (check staffed hours before you visit). Books can also be requested via Library Search from other staffed NHS Scotland libraries, and can be picked up at our staffed NHSGGC library sites. Books may be subject to a 72 hour quarantine on return before being made available for loan again. To save you a visit, Library staff will be happy to post books by internal mail to NHSGGC workplaces, and you can return items the same way.
Borrowing and returning books in unstaffed libraries
Many NHSGGC libraries that are accessible out of hours already have self-issue sheets or issue cards that you can use to record any books you borrow when our sites are unstaffed. Please continue to use these, ensuring you give barcode details of the items if requested. You can find book barcodes inside the first couple of pages, near the date label. Most of our sites have Book Return bins as well: please use these to place your returns in, rather than leave them on enquiry desks.
Loan period and renewals
Currently (end of July 2020), the due date of books borrowed from any NHS Scotland library before libraries began to close has been extended to late August/early September. Books issued after March 2020 now have a loan period of 12 weeks, instead of the usual 4 weeks. As staff begin to return to NHS Scotland libraries in the coming weeks, these loan periods may be adjusted. You will receive notification of any changes made if you have books on loan.
If you check your account (see below) and notice that any due dates haven't changed, contact library staff.
Currently (end of July 2020) books can only be requested and collected from staffed NHS Scotland libraries. Be aware that while the 12 week loan period is in place on some items (see above), you may have to wait some time if you place a request on an item that is out on loan. Contact any of our staffed sites or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you need help with requesting books.
