Following the tender for the national digital library subscription resources for three years from 2019, we want to make you aware of some changes that may require action from you:
Cinahl
The Cinahl Plus Full Text database has been replaced by Cinahl Index. This runs on the same EBSCO platform - so it looks the same as before - but any searches and alerts you have saved for Cinahl on your personal EBSCO account will have stopped working in April.
PsycInfo
The PsycInfo database has moved from the EBSCO platform to OVID. This means that any searches and alerts that you have saved in your personal EBSCO account will have stopped working in April.
If you want to use the saved search strategies again, or to receive new updates from your alerts, you will need to create new searches in the new platforms.
Library staff can help you with this by:
- Arranging a face-to-face training session to show you how to translate your saved search strategies for the new platforms or
- Translating your search strategies or alerts for you in a Word document so that you can copy and paste them line by line into the new platform or
- Answer any other queries you might have about using PsycInfo in OVID and/or Cinahl Index
Web of Science
NHS Scotland no longer subscribes to Web of Science but all is not lost! The National Library of Scotland has a subscription which is accessible to everyone living in Scotland. To set up your access:
- Go to: https://auth.nls.uk/eresources/browse/80
- If you've not accessed the National Library of Scotland resources before you will be asked to register - anyone whose main address is in Scotland is entitled to full access.
- Once you have registered you can log in and search Web of Science as normal
eJournals
While subscriptions to over 2,800 full text journals were renewed, the bulk of the necessary financial savings had to be made here so access to some journals has had to be cut.
We very much encourage you to use the "Get it for me" option available when searching using the Knowledge Network search function or when carrying out a database search to request a copy of the full text for any article that is useful to you and not immediately available online.
- Requested copies will be emailed to you - usually the same day
- All article and book requests are free
If you have any questions about these changes, or anything else to do with subscriptions or resources, please get in touch.
