Professional conferences are a traditional way to share knowledge, whether you are presenting or attending. Here are some library-related options to consider.
NHS Scotland Event poster abstract submissions are usually due late January/early February, and the conference is held in June every year in Glasgow. Various members of library staff have attended and presented posters at this event, so they will be happy to share their experiences with anyone else planning to go.
"Every year, [this] Event provides the opportunity for those working in and with the NHS in Scotland to come together to consider the challenges, to share best practice and the most innovative approaches to delivering the highest quality of care, and to take away tools and techniques that will support them in their various roles."
NHS Research Scotland
"Scotland’s leading clinical research conference, bringing together delegates across NHS, academia, industry and third sector". As well as its own annual conference, NRS promotes other smaller/specialty-specific events on its calendar.

It is described as being "of interest to all those involved in medical education, training and appraisal, including students, trainees, trainers, appraisees, appraisers, managers, those working in primary care, secondary care, Universities, Deaneries and Medical Royal Colleges".
In addition, NES promotes other events on its calendar and through its education and training pages for individual disciplines.

HLG is a UK-based network of individuals working in, or professionally interested in, health and social care, and is one of the special interest groups of CILIP (Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals). HLG runs a programme of sessions at each annual CILIP conference, and in the alternate years runs its own conference. NHSGGC library staff have attended and presented at HLG in the past. Information about the June 2018 conference is at:
