A sharepoint teamsite is basically a small intranet site - but just for your team.
Its always worth thinking about what your knowledge sharing platforms are and defining what content goes where. Generally this should be:
NHS Knowledge Network Community of Practice - sharing across boards within a defined group which could be by topic or specialty.
NHSGGC Website - Public (though this might also be useful for large staff groups that may operate across the board and find it difficult to get access to the Intranet.)
NHSGGC Intranet - For knowledge you want to share about your team and what you do across the board.
Teamsite - For knowledge just to be shared within your team.
Personal Drive - as it says on the tin, for personal information. Before saving here it is always worth thinking about whether the particular asset in question 1. needs to be saved. 2. needs to be saved in one of the other places.
We would recommend that you should only have 1 platform for any single purpose, e.g. for team sharing have only one team sharing site. Otherwise you risk duplication or inability to find what you are looking for.
If a teamsite is what you need to share your teams knowledge we would also recommend that you implement it with the Business Classification Scheme. Note this should also be registered on the Asset Register.
To request a teamsite you will need to raise a call with the IT Service Desk.
